Medical Assisting Student Highlight – Stephanie Troycheck

Medical Assisting Highlight

I attended a post-secondary school before attending PIHT. I did a few online courses through Penn Foster Online School and my experience was very disappointing. I had a hard time being able to manage my assignments. There were no deadlines until the end of the course which was 18 months. My experience at PIHT has been so rewarding and so different from my other experience. One of my best decisions was to attend PIHT.

Before I decided to attend PIHT, I was working for Ad Star Publishing and my job was to sell ad space. I was not enjoying what I was doing. I looked at it as a job and only a job. I wanted to find myself a career and a job that I would love going to everyday.

I chose PIHT for a few different reasons. The school was close to home, the schedule was perfect, and when I went for my tour, the staff was so warm and welcoming. I chose the Medical Assistant program. I knew that I wanted to be in the medical field. I did not want to start off with nursing because I knew from being out of school for so long and having a family at home to take care of, I did not want to overwhelm myself. Medical Assisting was a perfect fit for me because, prior to starting at PIHT, I did in-home care for a few years and I loved being able to help other people.

My favorite part about attending PIHT is how amazing the staff is. I always felt that everyone wanted the best for me and my future. I also have met the most amazing lifelong friends, some of the best friends that I could have ever asked for. I did not realize on the first day that at the end of my time at PIHT I would have not only made a few friends and received a degree, but also have friends that I can call family.

I cannot really say who my favorite teacher or class was. In each class I learned new and interesting things and the teachers were all amazing in their own ways.

My idea of a perfect day includes the sun shining and it being in the low 80s. I would love to spend the day at Ohiopyle with my kids just enjoying the weather. My favorite junk foods include chocolate, ice cream, and gummy bears.

My ideal job after graduation would be to working in a trauma center in a hospital. I want to go back to school to become a Registered Nurse. In five years, I would like to be a Registered Nurse and work at Ruby Memorial Hospital. I would like to have my house paid off and have a new car. I want to be stable enough to provide my kids with the life they deserve.
